Snapshot No. 685-689

689.@Shinden (J7W1) restoration?

Sinden J7W1 Mu, mu, mu, -.

This is awesome!

One of the works in the diorama exhibition, "The world of Tachikawa Shin" being held in J. Honda at Inzai.

This is an imaginary scene of Shinden restoration works.

I have made Sinden's plastic models several times.

I become definitely pleased to find this sort of things.

The following is Mr. Tachikawa's explanation about this work.

The 1/32 scale "Shinden" kit of Zoukei-mura referred to in the explanation is < this. >

688. Iwa ni simi-iru semi no koe

Nii-nii zemi Here comes cicadas' season, this year too.

A larva of a nii-nii cicada seen at a nearby square.

A haiku of Matuo Bashou;

Sizukasaya iwani simi-iru semino koe

What type of cicada is referred to in this haiku?

Though there had been a controversy on this subject, it has lead to a consensus that it is the nii-nii cicada, as the time of this haiku, July 13th of the 2nd year of Genroku (luni-solar calendar) / 1689 CE, is too early for other cicadas than nii-nii appear at the area, Yamagata's Risshaku temple.

My experience from a boyhood is that the sound of nii-nii cicada, a high-frequency pitch, ti - - -, makes it difficult to find out from which direction the sound is coming, even if the cicada is just in front. The sound coming from nowhere and going out nowhere.

Indeed its sound is "iwa ni simi-iru" (seeping into the rocks).

Thus this haiku itself, "- - voice seeping into the rocks" is sufficient enough to conclude that it is nii-nii cicada, without bothering about the cicadas' emergence timings at the north area.

687. A kofuki-kogane

Siofuki kogane A kofuki-kogane lying upside down.

On my doorstep this morning.

Siofuki kogane 2 Set it upright.

Siofuki kogane 2 Just before flying.

Beetles fly with the hard forward-wings and the extended folded rear-wings, as in this photo.

It looks hard to fly right with this structure.

686. P-1

Fukurou A P-1 under training flight in the threatning sky.
A shot from the 2nd floor window.

Looks full of antennas and sensors because of its required missions.

My place is inside the control zone of Simoosa naval base, and the circumnavigation of P-3C is daily affairs. While that of P-1 has just recently started.

The engine noise is fairly smaller than the propellrar-driven P-3C.

685. Tanuki?

Fukurou A statue at JR Sakura station south exit.

From the window seat of a coffee shop in front of the station.

It looked tanuki. But checking from the front revealed it fukurou.
